Aroon Indicator
Aroon indicator was developed by Tushar Chande in 1995, it was used to determine if a stock is trending and how strong is the trend.
There are two lines in Aroon indicator, Aroon-Up and Aroon-Down. Aroon-Up measures the strength of the uptrend and Aroon-Down measures the downtrend. Both Aroon-Up and Aroon-Down fluctuate between zero and 100, which zero indicating a weak trend and values close to 100 indicating a strong trend.
The formula for Aroon-Up is
(((# of periods - # of periods highest high recorded during that period)) / # of periods))) x 100
The formula for Aroon-Down is
(((# of periods - # of periods lowest low recorded during that period)) / # of periods)) x 100
