Technical Analysis - MACD Scan E-mail

This script will download past 60 days historical data from Yahoo Finance, then calculate for the MACD value and then check for fast and slow line crossover.

Cells mark as ‘Red’ indicate Bearish, which means MACD line crossed over Signal from top. Cells mark as ‘Green’ indicate Bullish, which means MACD line crossed over signal line from bottom.

There are many paid services outside on the Internet that scan for technical analysis indication, they will send a mail to inform you whenever there's any stock ticker in your portfolio has reached certain oversold or overbought condition. All those services are subscription base, which mean you need to pay them in order to get notification from them.

If you are one of those technical traders all these information could mean everything to you, but you never knew that you only need to write a simple excel's script to produce those results and it is all free.

MACD scan

MACD shows the difference between a fast and slow exponential moving average of the closing price, the result are then plot to forms a line that oscillates above and below zero. The fast line calls MACD and the slow line calls Signal line.

A – Fast line crossover slow line from bottom – Bullish signal
B – Fast line crossover slow line from top – Bearish signal
